On Wed., Nov. 16, 2011 ETC hosted our third Specialized Industry Panel of the year, our Entertainment Marketing & Public Relations Panel. We had a great turnout of ETC members as well as non-member students who were interested in hearing what our panelists had to say. The night kicked off with some delicious chocolate and fruit crepes and hot coffee.
Once students were seated, our panelists took the stage in the Titan Student Union Theater. The President of the Entertainment and Tourism Club, Marissa Calaunan, provided panelists with various questions from the perspective of a student interested in working in the entertainment marketing & PR industry. Panelists shared lots of great advice to help inspire and encourage students. Panelist Jamie Espinosa, tour publicist for Epitaph Records, reminded students to take up multiple internships while we can. Stephanie Greene, President & CEO of FG Creative, Inc said “don’t think any opportunity is beneath you, get as much experience as you can and find out what you love to do. Life is too short to do something you don’t like to do.” Along with sharing tips, panelists displayed a great example of the importance in establishing relationships with the people you want to work with. After the Q&A portion of the event, ETC members had the chance to network with our panelists individually. ETC offers its members the exclusive opportunity to ask more questions, exchange business cards, and even hand out their resumes after our panels conclude, to further take advantage of their membership.
All in all, it was a great event for both the student body and our special guests, our panelists. We want to say a special thanks to the professionals who dedicated their time to provide special insight on how to get involved, be successful, and land a job in the professional fields of entertainment marketing and public relations.
